Whether you are working toward licensure, pursuing your RPT credential, or seeking peer consultation as an independently licensed clinician, Well Child Counseling and Consulting offers supervision and consultation grounded in clinical excellence, ethical accountability, and genuine investment in your growth as a clinician.
Faith-integrated supervision and consultation are available upon request for clinicians who want a supervisor who honors both their clinical training and their Christian faith.
Clinical supervision is available for pre-licensed counselors in the following states:
North Carolina — Supervision toward LCMHS licensure for Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associates (LCMHCA). Supervisor credential: LCMHCS, LPCS. Supervision frequency is based on the NC board requirement of one hour of supervision per 40 hours of clinical work. A board-approved supervision plan must be in place before supervision begins. → NC Board of Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors
South Carolina — Supervision toward LPC licensure for LPC Associates. Supervisor credential: LPCS. South Carolina requires 1,500 total post-master's hours over a minimum of two years, including 120 hours of supervision with at least 60 individual or triadic hours. A board-approved supervision plan must be in place before supervision begins. → SC Board of Examiners in Counseling
Colorado — Supervision toward LPC licensure for Licensed Professional Counselor Candidates (LPCC). Supervisor credential: LPC with Colorado board-approved supervision training. Colorado requires 100 total supervision hours over a minimum of two years, with at least 50 individual hours. No pre-approval required.
All supervision sessions are conducted virtually via secure telehealth platform.
RPT supervision is available nationwide for play therapists working through the Association for Play Therapy (APT) three-phase credentialing process. The supervisor holds the Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor (RPT-S) credential and is authorized to provide RPT supervision in all states.
APT Three-Phase Overview
Total requirements: 150 CE hours in approved play therapy training | 350 play therapy experience hours | 35 supervision hours (maximum 10 in group) | Supervision ratio of 1 hour per 10 play therapy experience hours | Completed within 2 to 7 years
Phase One: 35–55 CEs | 50–75 experience hours | 5–10 supervision sessions | 1 observed session
Phase Two: 55–70 CEs | 100–150 experience hours | 10–15 supervision sessions | 2 observed sessions
Phase Three: 45–60 CEs | 100–175 experience hours | 10–20 supervision sessions | 2 observed sessions
Play therapy session observation review is available as a separate service. Sessions are submitted by the supervisee for independent review, written feedback is provided, and the supervisee completes a reflection questionnaire.
For pre-licensed clinicians who are also pursuing the RPT credential, both clinical licensure supervision and RPT supervision can be provided within the same session. Clinical and RPT hours are tracked and documented separately to meet the requirements of each credentialing body.
This is one of the most efficient options for early-career play therapists who need both licensure hours and RPT credentialing support simultaneously.
Professional consultation is available nationwide for independently licensed clinicians. Consultation is a peer-level relationship — there is no board oversight, and the consultee retains full clinical and legal responsibility for their practice.
Consultation services include:
RPT Credential Consultation — For licensed clinicians pursuing the RPT credential. Covers play therapy case consultation, APT phase guidance, documentation review, and application preparation.
General Clinical Consultation — Case consultation for licensed clinicians working with children, adolescents, and families. Specialty areas include play therapy, infant mental health, co-parenting, and faith integration.
Practice Building Consultation — For clinicians developing or growing a private practice. Covers clinical niche development, documentation systems, intake processes, and professional identity.
Consultation sessions can be scheduled on an ongoing basis or as a single session as needed.
Not sure which service applies to you?
Supervision is for pre-licensed or associate clinicians who have not yet obtained full independent licensure in their state. The supervisor carries shared clinical responsibility and documents hours for board credentialing.
Consultation is for independently licensed clinicians. It is a peer-level professional relationship with no board oversight. The consultee retains full clinical and legal responsibility for their work.
If you are fully licensed but pursuing the RPT credential, your service with Well Child is consultation, not supervision.
